O estudo, conduzido por uma equipe internacional de cientistas no \u00e2mbito da Rede Amaz\u00f4nia Sustent\u00e1vel (RAS) e projetos parceiros, foi realizado antes, durante e depois da seca do El Ni\u00f1o em 2015 e no in\u00edcio de 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/amazonia-passou-a-ser-fonte-de-co2\/\">Amaz\u00f4nia passou a ser fonte de CO2<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/floresta-amazonica-e-mudancas-climaticas\/\">Floresta amaz\u00f4nica e mudan\u00e7as clim\u00e1ticas<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">O estudo relevou que plantas em florestas afetadas pelo evento clim\u00e1tico e pelas queimadas induzidas pelo homem continuaram morrendo a uma taxa acima do normal por at\u00e9 tr\u00eas anos, liberando mais g\u00e1s carb\u00f4nico&nbsp;na atmosfera. A&nbsp;pesquisadora&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ox.ac.uk\/news-and-events\/find-an-expert\/dr-erika-berenguer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.ox.ac.uk\/news-and-events\/find-an-expert\/dr-erika-berenguer&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1627768457268000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFtHBWxFHF_jKlEBTuvMj8pEJM5Tw\">Erika Berenguer<\/a>, da&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1627768457269000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFVfmU7u6E3b0j5QkzUyIKmCpCEiA\">Universidade de Lancaster<\/a>&nbsp;(Reino Unido), e principal autora do estudo, afirma que o trabalho tem implica\u00e7\u00f5es significativas frente aos esfor\u00e7os globais para controlar o balan\u00e7o de carbono atmosf\u00e9rico.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace; font-size: 12pt;\">Estudo avalia os impactos de secas e inc\u00eandios na floresta amaz\u00f4nica<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace; color: #ffffff;\"><strong>\u201cNossos resultados destacam os efeitos enormemente prejudiciais e de longa dura\u00e7\u00e3o que os inc\u00eandios associados a eventos clim\u00e1ticos podem causar nas florestas amaz\u00f4nicas, um ecossistema que n\u00e3o co-evoluiu com a press\u00e3o do fogo e da degrada\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d, explica a cientista.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ao examinar o epicentro amaz\u00f4nico do El Ni\u00f1o, no Baixo Tapaj\u00f3s, regi\u00e3o da Amaz\u00f4nia oriental, os cientistas constataram que o dano \u00e0 floresta dura por v\u00e1rios anos. Por meio de simula\u00e7\u00e3o, os resultados foram ent\u00e3o extrapolados para a regi\u00e3o.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A perda de \u00e1rvores nas florestas secund\u00e1rias e em outras florestas afetadas por a\u00e7\u00e3o humana foi bem maior que nas florestas prim\u00e1rias. Isso porque \u00e1rvores e outras plantas com menor densidade de madeira e cascas mais finas s\u00e3o mais propensas a morrer com a seca e inc\u00eandios.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Os pesquisadores estimaram que cerca de 447 milh\u00f5es de \u00e1rvores grandes (com mais de 10 cm de di\u00e2metro na altura do peito) morreram e cerca de 2,5 bilh\u00f5es de \u00e1rvores menores (menos de 10 cm de DAP) morreram na regi\u00e3o do Baixo Tapaj\u00f3s. \u201cA combina\u00e7\u00e3o de seca e fogo foi significativamente maior nas florestas modificadas por a\u00e7\u00f5es humanas. Ela acrescenta ainda que esses mapas podem ser usados para fazer gest\u00e3o dos riscos, com regras mais r\u00edgidas onde o risco for maior.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ffffff; font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201c\u00c9 preciso agir em diferentes escalas.
