Hoje, no entanto, apenas 54,4% dessa \u00e1rea continua coberta por vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o nativa \u2013 e uma propor\u00e7\u00e3o bem menor (em torno de 20%) permanece inalterada.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace; color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Efeitos<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Com 45,6% de sua \u00e1rea convertida em planta\u00e7\u00f5es, pastagens, estradas, hidrel\u00e9tricas e cidades, o Cerrado \u00e9 o segundo bioma brasileiro mais alterado pela a\u00e7\u00e3o humana. Perde apenas para a Mata Atl\u00e2ntica, suprimida de quase 90% do territ\u00f3rio que ocupava.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Alguns efeitos associados a essa transforma\u00e7\u00e3o radical na paisagem e no uso do solo est\u00e3o cada vez mais evidentes: o Cerrado est\u00e1 se tornando mais quente, seco e, consequentemente, propenso a sofrer inc\u00eandios devastadores. Com temperaturas da ordem de 33<sup>\u00a0o<\/sup>C, os dias de outubro de 2019 foram, em m\u00e9dia, 4 graus mais quentes do que os do mesmo m\u00eas em 1961. \u00c0 noite, a temperatura m\u00e9dia ficou em torno dos 22\u00a0<sup>o<\/sup>C, at\u00e9 2,8 graus superior \u00e0 de 60 anos antes. Proje\u00e7\u00f5es realizadas pelo grupo sugerem que o fen\u00f4meno deve se agravar, com as temperaturas diurna e noturna subindo mais 2 graus at\u00e9 2050.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">O aquecimento observado no Cerrado \u00e9 bem superior ao incremento de 0,2\u00a0<sup>o<\/sup>C por d\u00e9cada indicado h\u00e1 poucos anos pelas proje\u00e7\u00f5es do Painel Intergovernamental sobre Mudan\u00e7as Clim\u00e1ticas (IPCC) para o hemisf\u00e9rio Sul. E segue um padr\u00e3o que, na avalia\u00e7\u00e3o dos autores do estudo, aponta para a mudan\u00e7a na cobertura e no uso do solo como causadora principal desse aquecimento.
