O microbioma humano ou microbiota humana \u00e9 a soma de todos microorganismos que residem nos tecidos e fluidos humanos, composto principalmente de bacterias.  O&nbsp;Projeto do Microbioma Humano (HMP)&nbsp;foi uma iniciativa de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o do Instituto Nacional de Sa\u00fade (NIH) dos Estados Unidos, envolvendo a participa\u00e7\u00e3o de diversos Institutos e Universidades, e que ocorreu entre 2007 e 2016. O <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedaily.com\/releases\/2010\/05\/100520141214.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">estudo<\/span><\/a> demonstrou que as comunidades de bact\u00e9rias, v\u00edrus e fungos que habitam nosso corpo s\u00e3o cruciais para a sa\u00fade humana, influenciando o metabolismo, o sistema imunol\u00f3gico e at\u00e9 a sa\u00fade mental.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong>C\u00e9lulas-tronco pluripotentes induzidas<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>O pesquisador japon\u00eas <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nobelprize.org\/prizes\/medicine\/2012\/yamanaka\/facts\/\">Shinya Yamanaka<\/a><\/strong> descobriu em 2006<strong> <\/strong>como reprogramar c\u00e9lulas adultas para um estado pluripotente (semelhante \u00e0s c\u00e9lulas-tronco embrion\u00e1rias) por meio da introdu\u00e7\u00e3o de alguns genes. Esse avan\u00e7o permitiu a cria\u00e7\u00e3o de c\u00e9lulas-tronco pluripotentes induzidas (iPS), abrindo novas possibilidades para a <strong>medicina regenerativa<\/strong> e tratamento de doen\u00e7as sem as controv\u00e9rsias \u00e9ticas associadas ao uso de c\u00e9lulas-tronco embrion\u00e1rias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Descoberta de Novas Esp\u00e9cies<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Nos \u00faltimos anos, a biologia tem feito muitas descobertas de novas esp\u00e9cies impulsionada por recursos modernos como a an\u00e1lise de DNA, especialmente em ecossistemas anteriormente pouco explorados, como as profundezas dos oceanos e florestas tropicais. Isso inclui o desenvolvimento de bact\u00e9rias que produzem biocombust\u00edveis ou novos medicamentos, al\u00e9m de organismos projetados para degradar poluentes. Um grande avan\u00e7o na \u00e1rea ocorreu nos anos 2000 com a publica\u00e7\u00e3o de dois artigos na Nature por Michael B.
