Todavia, essa defini\u00e7\u00e3o n\u00e3o satisfaz muitos bi\u00f3logos e existem diversas outras defini\u00e7\u00f5es para o termo.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">O conceito de esp\u00e9cie \u00e9 essencial na Biologia pois \u00e9\u00a0a unidade b\u00e1sica do<\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/taxonomia\/\">sistema taxon\u00f4mico<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">utilizado na classifica\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica dos seres vivos.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace; color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/a-origem-das-especies\/\">A Origem das Esp\u00e9cies<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/lineu\/\">Lineu<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Diverg\u00eancias<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Apesar de terem sido propostas m\u00faltiplas defini\u00e7\u00f5es mais precisas, a dificuldade em encontrar uma defini\u00e7\u00e3o universal para o conceito levou ao aparecimento do chamado problema da esp\u00e9cie e \u00e0 ado\u00e7\u00e3o de formula\u00e7\u00f5es flex\u00edveis utilizadas de forma pragm\u00e1tica em fun\u00e7\u00e3o das especificidades do grupo biol\u00f3gico a que o conceito \u00e9 aplicado.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Existem catalogadas cerca de 1.755.000 esp\u00e9cies, mas estima-se que na Terra j\u00e1 tenham existido mais de 1.000.000.000 de esp\u00e9cies.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A quest\u00e3o de como melhor definir &#8220;esp\u00e9cie&#8221; tem ocupado os bi\u00f3logos por s\u00e9culos, e o pr\u00f3prio debate tornou-se conhecido como o problema das esp\u00e9cies. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/documentario-a-biografia-de-charles-darwin\/\">Darwin<\/a><\/span> escreveu no cap\u00edtulo II do A Origem das Esp\u00e9cies:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8220;Nenhuma defini\u00e7\u00e3o satisfaz a todos os naturalistas, todavia cada naturalista sabe vagamente o que ele quer dizer quando fala de uma esp\u00e9cie. Geralmente, o termo inclui o elemento desconhecido de um ato de cria\u00e7\u00e3o distinto.&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mas depois, em seu livro <em>A Descend\u00eancia do Homem <\/em>e<em> Sele\u00e7\u00e3o em Rela\u00e7\u00e3o ao Sexo<\/em>, ao abordar &#8220;A quest\u00e3o de saber se a humanidade \u00e9 constitu\u00edda de uma ou v\u00e1rias esp\u00e9cies&#8221;, Darwin revisou sua opini\u00e3o a dizer:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #ffffff;\">&#8220;\u00c9 um esfor\u00e7o in\u00fatil decidir esse ponto em fundamentos s\u00f3lidos, at\u00e9 que uma defini\u00e7\u00e3o do termo &#8220;esp\u00e9cie&#8221; seja geralmente aceita; e a defini\u00e7\u00e3o n\u00e3o deve incluir um elemento que n\u00e3o possa ser determinado, como um ato de cria\u00e7\u00e3o.&#8221; <\/span>&#8211; Charles Darwin :: mais em <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/frases-de-biologos-famosos\/\">Frases de bi\u00f3logos famosos<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A moderna teoria da<\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/evolucao\/\">evolu\u00e7\u00e3o<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">depende de uma redefini\u00e7\u00e3o fundamental de &#8220;esp\u00e9cie&#8221;. Antes de Darwin, os naturalistas viam esp\u00e9cies como tipos ideais ou geral, que podia ser exemplificado por um esp\u00e9cime ideal tendo todas as caracter\u00edsticas gerais da esp\u00e9cie. As teorias de Darwin deslocaram a aten\u00e7\u00e3o da uniformidade para a varia\u00e7\u00e3o e do geral para o particular.
