Watson e Crick partiram do processo de \u201cconstru\u00e7\u00e3o de modelo\u201d, no qual eles reuniram os resultados de experimentos anteriores e continuados sobre a estrutura do DNA. A partir destes resultados reunidos eles procuraram formar um quebra-cabe\u00e7a que seria na verdade o modelo tridimensional, a dupla h\u00e9lice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As pe\u00e7as para este quebra cabe\u00e7a foram os blocos estruturais do DNA. Tratando de uma subst\u00e2ncia qu\u00edmica o DNA \u00e9 simples, cont\u00e9m tr\u00eas tipos de componentes qu\u00edmicos: o fosfato, um a\u00e7\u00facar (desoxirribose) e quatro bases nitrogenadas (adenina, timina, cianina, guanina). Estes blocos foram a primeira pe\u00e7a para montar o modelo. A segunda foi a regra de Chargaff da composi\u00e7\u00e3o de bases e a terceira a an\u00e1lise de difra\u00e7\u00e3o de raios X do DNA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A composi\u00e7\u00e3o geral do DNA j\u00e1 era conhecida, mas n\u00e3o se sabia como suas partes componentes se reuniam. A estrutura tridimensional de Watson e Crick abriu uma nova era da <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/genetica-a-ciencia-dos-genes\/\">gen\u00e9tica<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>e da biologia, como publicaram em 1953 no peri\u00f3dico <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nature<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #ffffff;\"> \u201cN\u00f3s queremos sugerir uma estrutura para o sal de \u00e1cido desoxirribonucleico (DNA).
