Pelo contr\u00e1rio, ela exige uma compreens\u00e3o detalhada das intera\u00e7\u00f5es ecol\u00f3gicas entre microrganismos, bem como entre estes e o hospedeiro. Assim, a abordagem integra conhecimentos da ecologia microbiana, da metabol\u00f4mica, da bioinform\u00e1tica e da engenharia gen\u00e9tica. Embora o transplante de microbiota fecal (FMT, na sigla em ingl\u00eas) tenha se mostrado eficaz em algumas situa\u00e7\u00f5es, como na infec\u00e7\u00e3o recorrente por <em>Clostridioides difficile<\/em>, sua natureza pouco controlada e heterog\u00eanea levanta preocupa\u00e7\u00f5es \u00e9ticas, sanit\u00e1rias e cl\u00ednicas (Smillie et al., 2018). Diante disso, a constru\u00e7\u00e3o de microbiomas artificiais se apresenta como uma alternativa mais segura, padroniz\u00e1vel e pass\u00edvel de valida\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica rigorosa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">A nova fronteira da engenharia biol\u00f3gica<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2b1fad6dc3a0f2d76a5ba96e7dbf48f4 wp-block-paragraph\">Os primeiros cons\u00f3rcios artificiais foram desenvolvidos com o objetivo de restaurar a homeostase intestinal em modelos animais. Um exemplo marcante \u00e9 o cons\u00f3rcio denominado \u201cOligo-Mouse-Microbiota\u201d (Oligo-MM^12), que consiste em doze cepas bacterianas isoladas de camundongos e cultivadas individualmente em condi\u00e7\u00f5es ax\u00eanicas, sendo posteriormente inoculadas de forma controlada. Essa abordagem permitiu o estudo de intera\u00e7\u00f5es espec\u00edficas entre microrganismos e contribuiu para a elucida\u00e7\u00e3o de mecanismos imunol\u00f3gicos mediados pela microbiota (Brugiroux et al., 2016). Esses conjuntos microbianos, selecionados por seus perfis metab\u00f3licos e imunomodulat\u00f3rios, t\u00eam sido testados em ensaios cl\u00ednicos para o tratamento de colite ulcerativa, s\u00edndrome metab\u00f3lica e at\u00e9 autismo infantil, com resultados preliminares promissores (Ottman et al., 2022; Baruch et al., 2023).
