A planta chamou aten\u00e7\u00e3o por suas flores masculinas verde-lim\u00e3o e por viver em uma floresta seriamente amea\u00e7ada pelo desmatamento (Cheek et al., 2022). \u00c9 conhecida por um \u00fanico esp\u00e9cime e menos de 50 indiv\u00edduos maduros foram observados apesar do extenso esfor\u00e7o de pesquisa. Em vez disso, ela depende de associa\u00e7\u00f5es micorr\u00edzicas com fungos do solo para obter nutrientes, o que a classifica como uma planta mixotr\u00f3fica. Esse tipo de simbiose \u00e9 vital para sua sobreviv\u00eancia em certos ambientes sombreados de mata atl\u00e2ntica. Embora discreta, a presen\u00e7a dessa orqu\u00eddea indica a boa sa\u00fade do ecossistema. Desse modo, <a href=\"https:\/\/bmcplantbiol.biomedcentral.com\/articles\/10.1186\/s12870-021-03118-y\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">estudos<\/span><\/a> assim refor\u00e7am a import\u00e2ncia de sua conserva\u00e7\u00e3o.
