Denominadas informalmente de <em>c\u00e9lulas zumbis<\/em>, essas estruturas desafiam a linha que tradicionalmente separa a vida da morte. Ap\u00f3s a morte, embora o corpo como um todo deixe de funcionar, determinadas c\u00e9lulas, como neur\u00f4nios, c\u00e9lulas-tronco e c\u00e9lulas epiteliais, mant\u00eam por algum tempo sua integridade estrutural e funcional. De fato, em condi\u00e7\u00f5es espec\u00edficas, essas c\u00e9lulas n\u00e3o apenas resistem ao colapso fisiol\u00f3gico, como tamb\u00e9m continuam a expressar genes e a produzir prote\u00ednas (Pozhitkov et al., 2017). Assim, a morte org\u00e2nica n\u00e3o representa, necessariamente, o fim imediato da atividade celular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a97fd17e0eff02c36b3391828ba1fc3a\">Um dos exemplos mais not\u00e1veis vem de pesquisas com tecidos cerebrais. Em 2019, cientistas da Universidade Yale conseguiram restaurar parcialmente a atividade de c\u00e9rebros su\u00ednos quatro horas ap\u00f3s a morte dos animais. Por meio do sistema BrainEx, uma solu\u00e7\u00e3o perfluorada foi utilizada para perfundir os tecidos, mantendo a estrutura sin\u00e1ptica e algumas fun\u00e7\u00f5es celulares intactas (Vrselja et al., 2019). Embora n\u00e3o tenha havido consci\u00eancia ou sinais de atividade el\u00e9trica global, a reativa\u00e7\u00e3o de processos celulares em tecidos post-mortem abre perspectivas fascinantes \u2014 e inquietantes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Uma revolu\u00e7\u00e3o na medicina<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-fdce5aa565d30868a25f364edec6a8d0\">Do ponto de vista m\u00e9dico, a preserva\u00e7\u00e3o funcional de c\u00e9lulas ap\u00f3s a morte representa uma oportunidade valiosa. Primeiramente, em transplantes de \u00f3rg\u00e3os, entender quais c\u00e9lulas sobrevivem por mais tempo pode melhorar as t\u00e9cnicas de preserva\u00e7\u00e3o e prolongar a viabilidade dos enxertos. C\u00e9lulas-tronco obtidas de tecidos rec\u00e9m-mortos ainda mant\u00eam o potencial de diferencia\u00e7\u00e3o e prolifera\u00e7\u00e3o. Com isso, torna-se poss\u00edvel cultiv\u00e1-las em laborat\u00f3rio para aplica\u00e7\u00f5es terap\u00eauticas, inclusive na engenharia de tecidos e no desenvolvimento de \u00f3rg\u00e3os bioartificiais (Yousefzadeh et al., 2021).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-575fce692c4e38fb17109f781095cf42\">Outro campo que se beneficia desse conhecimento \u00e9 o da <a href=\"https:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/criobiologia\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">criobiologia<\/span><\/a>. Como algumas c\u00e9lulas resistem por horas \u2014 ou at\u00e9 dias \u2014 \u00e0 morte do organismo, t\u00e9cnicas de preserva\u00e7\u00e3o a frio ou por vitrifica\u00e7\u00e3o podem ser adaptadas para resgatar fun\u00e7\u00f5es celulares em tecidos congelados. Com efeito, isso poderia ampliar as fronteiras do armazenamento biol\u00f3gico e favorecer a cria\u00e7\u00e3o de bancos de \u00f3rg\u00e3os mais eficientes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Morte Org\u00e2nica, Vida Celular: implica\u00e7\u00f5es biom\u00e9dicas<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-b385fd4d456fbb48fcb11f85b18d0de4\">Contudo, a exist\u00eancia dessas c\u00e9lulas tamb\u00e9m levanta quest\u00f5es \u00e9ticas. At\u00e9 que ponto \u00e9 aceit\u00e1vel manipular tecidos cerebrais p\u00f3s-morte? A possibilidade de restaurar parcialmente tecidos humanos levanta o espectro da consci\u00eancia residual, exigindo marcos regulat\u00f3rios rigorosos e reflex\u00e3o bio\u00e9tica constante. Portanto, embora as aplica\u00e7\u00f5es m\u00e9dicas sejam promissoras, o avan\u00e7o nessa \u00e1rea exige prud\u00eancia e responsabilidade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-54f272f0c80455acef6e8a751f913d75\">Al\u00e9m disso, o fen\u00f4meno das c\u00e9lulas zumbis tem implica\u00e7\u00f5es forenses. A an\u00e1lise de genes que continuam ativos ap\u00f3s a morte \u2014 chamada de <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biorxiv.org\/content\/10.1101\/058305v2\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">thanatotranscriptoma<\/span><\/a><\/em> \u2014 pode fornecer novos marcadores para estimar o tempo de morte com mais precis\u00e3o. Em crimes ou mortes suspeitas, isso representa uma ferramenta valiosa para a investiga\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-359cb90b140b3b2781f0f02525fe9452\">Surpreendentemente, mesmo o intestino humano parece colaborar com essa persist\u00eancia celular. Ap\u00f3s a morte, certas c\u00e9lulas intestinais continuam a proliferar, em um processo que parece ser impulsionado por bact\u00e9rias intestinais e sinais inflamat\u00f3rios residuais.
