Assim, elas revelam como v\u00edrus e hospedeiros compartilham hist\u00f3rias evolutivas entrela\u00e7adas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-56e2b00cbd2f36a5871bcf496f5e0cba\">Elas n\u00e3o surgem do nada. Pelo contr\u00e1rio, resultam de processos biol\u00f3gicos e ecol\u00f3gicos complexos, nos quais os v\u00edrus adaptam-se a novos hospedeiros ou expandem sua distribui\u00e7\u00e3o geogr\u00e1fica (Woolhouse &amp; Gowtage-Sequeria, 2005). De fato, a fragmenta\u00e7\u00e3o de habitats, a urbaniza\u00e7\u00e3o acelerada e o com\u00e9rcio internacional de animais criam condi\u00e7\u00f5es ideais para que v\u00edrus previamente restritos a popula\u00e7\u00f5es silvestres atinjam seres humanos (Daszak et al., 2000). Elementos virais inseridos em genomas animais contribu\u00edram, ao longo da evolu\u00e7\u00e3o, para o surgimento de estruturas complexas, como a placenta nos mam\u00edferos (Feschotte &amp;#038; Gilbert, 2012). Isso mostra que sua influ\u00eancia vai al\u00e9m da patologia: ela alcan\u00e7a a pr\u00f3pria hist\u00f3ria da vida.
