Elas nos fornecem fibras para vestu\u00e1rios;madeira para mobili\u00e1rio, abrigo e combust\u00edvel; papel para livros;temperos para culin\u00e1ria; drogas para rem\u00e9dios; e o oxig\u00eanio que respiramos. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Somos totalmente dependentes das plantas. As plantas tamb\u00e9m possuem um grande apelo sensorial, e nossas vidas s\u00e3o melhoradas por jardins, parques e \u00e1reas selvagens dispon\u00edveis para n\u00f3s.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: courier new,courier,monospace; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Novas tecnologias<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Com a engenharia gen\u00e9tica e outras formas de tecnologia moderna, apenas come\u00e7amos a entrar no mais excitante per\u00edodo da <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/historia-da-botanica\/\">hist\u00f3ria da bot\u00e2nica<\/a><\/span>, no qual as plantas podem ser transformadas, por exemplo, para resistir a doen\u00e7as, matar pragas, produzir vacinas, fabricar pl\u00e1sticos biodegrad\u00e1veis, tolerar solos com altas concentra\u00e7\u00f5es de sal, resistir ao congelamento e fornecer maiores quantidades de vitaminas e minerais em produtos aliment\u00edcios, como milho e arroz.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #ffffff;\">O estudo das plantas garantiu melhor entendimento da natureza de toda a vida e continuar\u00e1 a faz\u00ea-lo.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Distintas dos demais seres vivos por seu ciclo de vida mais que pela fotoss\u00edntese (algumas esp\u00e9cies s\u00e3o heterotr\u00f3ficas secund\u00e1rias, sem pigmentos verdes). As embri\u00f3fitas, tamb\u00e9m chamadas de plantas terrestres, s\u00e3o composta de dois grupos informais: avasculares e vasculares, sendo o \u00faltimo subdividido em plantas sem e com sementes. Em cada um destes n\u00edveis, um bot\u00e2nico pode se dedicar \u00e0 classifica\u00e7\u00e3o (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/taxonomia\/\">taxonomia<\/a><\/span>), estrutura (anatomia) ou fun\u00e7\u00e3o (fisiologia) da vida vegetal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Historicamente, bot\u00e2nicos estudavam todos os organismos geralmente n\u00e3o considerados como animais.
