Em ess\u00eancia, une os conhecimentos da biologia com ferramentas da inform\u00e1tica, estat\u00edstica e matem\u00e1tica, buscando interpretar e organizar a imensa quantidade de dados gerados pelas ci\u00eancias da vida.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace; color: #000000;\">Bioinform\u00e1tica<\/span><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace; color: #000000; font-size: 24pt;\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace; color: #000000; font-size: 24pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace; color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><strong>: a integra\u00e7\u00e3o entre biologia e tecnologia<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>20\/6\/2025<\/strong>&nbsp;::&nbsp; por<strong> Marco Pozzana<\/strong>, bi\u00f3logo<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-df2bb3d1b6f3a5cc40cbbcbff38f2460\">O termo &#8220;bioinform\u00e1tica&#8221; foi cunhado por Paulien Hogeweg e Ben Hesper, no in\u00edcio da d\u00e9cada de 1970, com o objetivo de descrever o estudo dos processos informacionais em sistemas biol\u00f3gicos (Hogeweg, 2011). Alguns especialistas a restringem \u00e0s aplica\u00e7\u00f5es da biologia molecular, em especial \u00e0 Gen\u00f4mica (Bragan\u00e7a et al., 2019). Essa integra\u00e7\u00e3o viabiliza o desenvolvimento de softwares e algoritmos capazes de realizar tarefas como: identificar genes, prever estruturas tridimensionais de prote\u00ednas, detectar inibidores de enzimas, organizar bancos de dados gen\u00e9ticos, simular c\u00e9lulas, comparar comunidades microbianas e montar \u00e1rvores filogen\u00e9ticas. Seu principal desafio consiste em compreender como essas mol\u00e9culas interagem, qual a fun\u00e7\u00e3o de suas estruturas e de que maneira suas conforma\u00e7\u00f5es influenciam processos biol\u00f3gicos fundamentais (Schneider &amp; Berman, 2018).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2243b7d60db7105f6b08a2440e431c8c\">Entre as t\u00e9cnicas mais empregadas nessa sub\u00e1rea, destacam-se o alinhamento e a compara\u00e7\u00e3o de sequ\u00eancias, al\u00e9m da modelagem molecular. Atualmente, uma das aplica\u00e7\u00f5es mais promissoras da bioinform\u00e1tica estrutural est\u00e1 no desenvolvimento racional de novos f\u00e1rmacos, uma vez que o conhecimento detalhado da estrutura de uma prote\u00edna pode indicar regi\u00f5es-chave para a a\u00e7\u00e3o de mol\u00e9culas terap\u00eauticas (Kitchen et al., 2004; Jumper et al., 2021). Simultaneamente, a bioinform\u00e1tica oferece suporte essencial a pesquisadores e ind\u00fastrias farmac\u00eauticas, permitindo o estudo aprofundado da estrutura molecular de prote\u00ednas, etapa crucial para o desenho de novas drogas (National Research Council, 2000).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f651cc0f62c90ca5d4a26a081bb443e1\">Entre as tarefas t\u00edpicas da bioinform\u00e1tica, incluem-se: deduzir a forma e a fun\u00e7\u00e3o de uma prote\u00edna com base em sua sequ\u00eancia de amino\u00e1cidos; identificar todos os genes e prote\u00ednas codificados em um genoma espec\u00edfico; e localizar regi\u00f5es nas estruturas proteicas onde mol\u00e9culas de f\u00e1rmacos possam se ligar de maneira eficiente (Lesk, 2019; Pevsner, 2022).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-627193c63a49c39ba70bc558bc6d44b5\">Em s\u00edntese, a bioinform\u00e1tica tem se consolidado como ferramenta indispens\u00e1vel na biologia moderna, abrindo caminhos para descobertas que seriam imposs\u00edveis sem o aux\u00edlio computacional.
