S\u00e3o materiais biol\u00f3gicos que, quando em combust\u00e3o, possuem a capacidade de gerar energia para realizar trabalhos. \u00c9 certo que praticamente todo material biol\u00f3gico gera energia, a fruta que comemos, a planta que queima.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mas aqui vou me concentrar naqueles com potencial combust\u00edvel de interesse econ\u00f4mico &#8211; a energia para queimar \u00e9 inferior \u00e0 energia que gera posteriormente &#8211; e suas consequ\u00eancias ao ambiente.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/manejo-adaptativo\/\">Manejo adaptativo<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/quanto-vale-a-natureza\/\">Quanto vale a natureza?<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/equilibrio-ecologico-economia-e-etica\/\">Equil\u00edbrio ecol\u00f3gico, economia e \u00e9tica<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Cana de a\u00e7\u00facar \/\u00a0\u00e1lcool \u00a0<span style=\"color: #999999;\">&#8211;\u00a0Biocombust\u00edveis<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">O tipo mais difundido de biocombust\u00edvel no Brasil \u00e9 o \u00e1lcool proveniente da cana de a\u00e7\u00facar. Sua principal vantagem \u00e9 a menor polui\u00e7\u00e3o que causa, em compara\u00e7\u00e3o aos combust\u00edveis derivados do petr\u00f3leo. A cana \u00e9 um produto completo porque produz a\u00e7\u00facar, \u00e1lcool e baga\u00e7o, cujo vapor gera energia el\u00e9trica. Contudo, possui diversas desvantagens, como o fato de n\u00e3o resolver o problema da depend\u00eancia do petr\u00f3leo, devido \u00e0 inflexibilidade no refino do mesmo.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">O \u00e1lcool proveniente da cana-de-a\u00e7\u00facar tem sido o biocombust\u00edvel n\u00famero 1 na pol\u00edtica brasileira de incentivo a energias alternativas ao petr\u00f3leo. O mais grave do pro-\u00e1lcool talvez tenha sido a necessidade de se utilizar um motor espec\u00edfico que n\u00e3o permite a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o alternada entre \u00e1lcool e gasolina, quando for interessante.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Biocombust\u00edveis e o meio ambiente<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ainda h\u00e1 a quest\u00e3o ambiental. Com o est\u00edmulo ao pr\u00f3-\u00e1lcool, grande \u00e1rea de <a href=\"http:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/mata-atlantica\/\">Mata Atl\u00e2ntica<\/a> foi substitu\u00edda por planta\u00e7\u00f5es de cana de a\u00e7\u00facar, particularmente no nordeste brasileiro. Isto acarretou graves problemas clim\u00e1ticos e ed\u00e1ficos, com eleva\u00e7\u00e3o das temperaturas e da erodibilidade dos solos. Tanto que muitos usineiros agora t\u00eam preocupa\u00e7\u00e3o em proteger os fragmentos que restam e recuperar \u00e1reas degradadas. Dente-de-le\u00e3o<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As plantas mais utilizadas atualmente para produ\u00e7\u00e3o do biodiesel s\u00e3o a soja, a colza, o pinh\u00e3o manso, mamona, dend\u00ea, girassol e maca\u00faba. As mais produtivas s\u00e3o o dend\u00ea (<em>Elaeis guineensis<\/em>) e a maca\u00faba (<em>Acrocomia aculeata<\/em>\u00a0&#8211; t\u00edpica do litoral brasileiro), confirmando a potencialidade das palmeiras.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A soja (<em>Glycine max<\/em>) \u00e9 a mais utilizada nos EUA, onde tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 comum misturar com restos de \u00f3leos usados para fritura.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A colza (<em>Brassica napus<\/em>) \u00e9 a principal planta estudada e plantada para este fim na Uni\u00e3o Europ\u00e9ia.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Existem outras muito produtivas, como a castanha do Par\u00e1, o coco e a copa\u00edba, por\u00e9m outros derivados seus s\u00e3o mais interessantes economicamente.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Tendo em vista tantas vantagens, o governo brasileiro t\u00eam estimulado a produ\u00e7\u00e3o e comercializa\u00e7\u00e3o do biodiesel, sendo o marco principal a publica\u00e7\u00e3o do Decreto No. 5.488, em 20 de maio de 2005, que regulamenta a lei 11.097 (janeiro\/2005). Essa lei disp\u00f5e sobre a introdu\u00e7\u00e3o do biodiesel na matriz energ\u00e9tica brasileira. O maior problema est\u00e1 no fato de serem plantas ex\u00f3ticas, sendo que a maca\u00faba, o\u00a0buriti\u00a0(<em>Maurutia fexuosa<\/em>), o pinh\u00e3o manso (<em>Jatropha curcas<\/em>) e o baba\u00e7u (<em>Ricinus communis<\/em>), todas nativas, apresentam grande potencial, s\u00f3 n\u00e3o sendo mais produtivas que o dend\u00ea, o qual ainda tem a vantegem de apresentar baixo custo de produ\u00e7\u00e3o (custa cerca de um ter\u00e7o do \u00f3leo diesel europeu). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Todavia, o conhecimento sobre a cultura das nativas ainda \u00e9 incipiente e a tecnologia para utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o precisa de muitos estudos para ser mais vi\u00e1vel economicamente. Ao contr\u00e1rio, as ex\u00f3ticas s\u00e3o mais conhecidas, suas culturas j\u00e1 s\u00e3o dominadas agronomicamente e existem muitos estudos publicados. \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A mamona, al\u00e9m de ser menos produtiva do que todas essas nativas, possui muitas exig\u00eancias de solo (irriga\u00e7\u00e3o e aduba\u00e7\u00e3o), o que causa muitas modifica\u00e7\u00f5es s\u00e9rias no ambiente, n\u00e3o sendo portanto a mais indicada para a regi\u00e3o Nordeste e Caatinga. Seria mais eficiente utilizar o pinh\u00e3o manso, que \u00e9 mais adaptado ao semi-\u00e1rido nordestino. O pequi tamb\u00e9m poderia ser uma boa op\u00e7\u00e3o pela alta produtividade, mas n\u00e3o deve ser vi\u00e1vel economicamente j\u00e1 que \u00e9 uma arb\u00f3rea de crescimento lento.<\/span><\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Refletindo<\/strong><\/span><\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Substituir o que resta dos biomas brasileiros por mais monoculturas de plantas ex\u00f3ticas, existindo altos potenciais nativos, n\u00e3o parece ser a estrat\u00e9gia mais eficiente para levar o Brasil crescentemente \u00e0 independ\u00eancia ao petr\u00f3leo, \u00e0 melhor contribuir para o controle das mudan\u00e7as clim\u00e1ticas e para a preserva\u00e7\u00e3o ambiental.
