Conjuntamente com&nbsp;Walter Gilbert, recebeu novamente o Nobel de Qu\u00edmica de 1980, por estudos sobre o&nbsp;DNA.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-size: 24pt; font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace; color: #000000;\"><strong>Frederick Sanger <\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>I<\/strong><\/span>nicialmente, destinado a estudar&nbsp;medicina, ficou interessado em&nbsp;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/bioquimica\/\">bioqu\u00edmica<\/a><\/span> porque alguns dos principais bioqu\u00edmicos de todo o mundo viviam em Cambridge, na altura.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ele completou seu doutorado sobre o metabolismo da lisina em 1943 e mais um problema pr\u00e1tico relativo ao azoto de batatas, de A. Neuberger. Descobriu ainda a estrutura das prote\u00ednas, mais conhecida como a insulina prote\u00edna. Posteriormente, ent\u00e3o assumiu uma forma de&nbsp;cromatografia&nbsp;sobre a mistura aplicando uma pequena amostra da mesma para o final de uma folha de papel de filtro.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Passou um solvente atrav\u00e9s do filtro de papel numa direc\u00e7\u00e3o, e uma corrente el\u00e9ctrica, atrav\u00e9s do papel, no sentido oposto. Dependendo da sua&nbsp;solubilidade&nbsp;e de&nbsp;carga, os diferentes fragmentos de insulina mudaram-se para diferentes posi\u00e7\u00f5es sobre o papel, criando um padr\u00e3o distinto. Sanger chamou a esses padr\u00f5es &#8220;impress\u00f5es digitais&#8221;. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Tal como as impress\u00f5es digitais dos humanos, esses padr\u00f5es s\u00e3o caracter\u00edsticos de cada prote\u00edna, e reprodut\u00edveis. Reagrupou os pequenos fragmentos em sequ\u00eancias maiores para deduzir a estrutura completa da insulina, concluindo que a insulina tinha uma sequ\u00eancia precisa de amino\u00e1cidos. Dois anos mais tarde ele usou a sua t\u00e9cnica, sequenciando com sucesso o&nbsp;genoma&nbsp;do&nbsp;fago&nbsp;\u03a6-X174; a primeira base de genoma do DNA totalmente sequenciada. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Este tem sido de fundamental import\u00e2ncia em projetos como o <a href=\"https:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/genoma\/\">Genoma Humano<\/a>, e ele recebeu seu segundo Nobel de Qu\u00edmica, em 1980, juntamente com Walter Gilbert. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Os outros \u00fanicos laureados a recebem um Pr\u00eamio Nobel duas vezes foram Marie Curie, Linus Pauling e John Bardeen.
