color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/ecologia-profunda\/\">Ecologia profunda<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Criado em mar\u00e7o de 1999 com o objetivo original de conhecer, mapear e analisar a riqueza de esp\u00e9cies do estado de S\u00e3o Paulo, o programa ampliou seu escopo de atua\u00e7\u00e3o, gerou informa\u00e7\u00f5es que influenciaram pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o e restaura\u00e7\u00e3o de \u00e1reas verdes e passou a ser parceiro, quando n\u00e3o protagonista, de estudos que mesclam a quest\u00e3o da biodiversidade no cen\u00e1rio incerto das mudan\u00e7as clim\u00e1ticas.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace; Esse \u00e9 um tipo de levantamento fundamental que nunca tem fim. A composi\u00e7\u00e3o de plantas e bichos das florestas n\u00e3o \u00e9 est\u00e1tica e sempre h\u00e1 esp\u00e9cies e ocorr\u00eancias a serem descritas. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cHoje j\u00e1 temos uma boa ideia da flora arb\u00f3rea da Mata Atl\u00e2ntica, conforme mostra trabalho que publicamos em 2012. Agora queremos entender como a floresta funciona, como suas esp\u00e9cies interagem e se relacionam com as mudan\u00e7as clim\u00e1ticas\u201d, explica Joly. Um artigo cient\u00edfico publicado em dezembro de 2019 na revista\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.plos.org\/plosone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PLOS One<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>ilustra a abordagem mais sist\u00eamica desses trabalhos do Biota.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Por meio de simula\u00e7\u00f5es feitas em fragmentos da Mata Atl\u00e2ntica situados na borda do PESM e em trechos fora dos limites do parque, o trabalho indica que o desmatamento de um quarto de uma \u00e1rea de 1 hectare da floresta eleva a temperatura superficial local em 1 grau Celsius (\u00baC). Pelo Biota, Joly foi o autor s\u00eanior do estudo. Pelo PFPMCG, esse papel coube ao climatologista Humberto Ribeiro da Rocha, do Instituto de Astronomia, Geof\u00edsica e Ci\u00eancias Atmosf\u00e9ricas da Universidade de S\u00e3o Paulo (IAG-USP) e membro da coordena\u00e7\u00e3o do PFPMCG.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h5><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/como-restaurar-florestas\/\">Como restaurar florestas<\/a><\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Com 332 mil hectares, o PESM \u00e9 a maior \u00e1rea cont\u00ednua protegida de Mata Atl\u00e2ntica do pa\u00eds, um ambiente convidativo para pesquisas de longo prazo. A unidade de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o paulista se estende desde a divisa com o Rio de Janeiro at\u00e9 o litoral sul do estado. Mais de 1.300 esp\u00e9cies de animais, como o <a href=\"https:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/as-ferramentas-do-macaco-prego\/\">macaco-prego<\/a>, a anta e o bicho-pregui\u00e7a, e 1.200 de plantas, casos do manac\u00e1-da-serra, do bambu e da palmeira ju\u00e7ara, comp\u00f5em sua fauna e flora. Esses segmentos est\u00e3o situados em \u00e1reas cont\u00ednuas de floresta bem preservada, como ocorre praticamente em todo o parque. Com exce\u00e7\u00e3o de pr\u00e1ticas ilegais, como a ca\u00e7a de mam\u00edferos e aves e a retirada de palmito ju\u00e7ara, uma das esp\u00e9cies t\u00edpicas da regi\u00e3o, a unidade de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o sofre poucas press\u00f5es externas. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As parcelas foram selecionadas por representarem a variabilidade de coberturas vegetais e de climas que se sucedem na Mata Atl\u00e2ntica \u00e0 medida que se deixa o litoral, inicia a subida da serra do Mar e atinge o topo de suas montanhas. H\u00e1 fra\u00e7\u00f5es monitoradas na restinga ao n\u00edvel do mar, em terras baixas, com menos de 100 m de altitude, em zonas submontanhosas, entre 200 e 400 m, e em setores de montanha, de 900 a 1.100 m. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cPode haver uma diferen\u00e7a de at\u00e9 7 \u00baC entre as parcelas ao n\u00edvel do mar e as situadas acima de mil metros\u201d, comenta a engenheira-agr\u00f4noma Simone Aparecida Vieira, do N\u00facleo de Estudos e Pesquisas Ambientais da Unicamp, outra integrante da coordena\u00e7\u00e3o do Biota, que faz estudos na regi\u00e3o. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Cerca de 54 mil \u00e1rvores receberam placas de identifica\u00e7\u00e3o e s\u00e3o monitoradas periodicamente. Em m\u00e9dia, mais de 2 mil \u00e1rvores, de 120 esp\u00e9cies, s\u00e3o acompanhadas em cada parcela. O nitrog\u00eanio \u00e9 um dos compostos mais importantes para o crescimento das plantas e sua maior ou menor presen\u00e7a afeta diferentes aspectos da fisiologia dos vegetais.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Por ora, os trabalhos indicam que a Mata Atl\u00e2ntica parece estar em equil\u00edbrio. Os trabalhos com esses dois elementos t\u00eam produzido alguns resultados inesperados.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Em um artigo de 2011, publicado na revista cient\u00edfica\u00a0<em>Ecology and Evolution<\/em>, Vieira, Joly e outros colaboradores mostraram que os maiores estoques de carbono e de nitrog\u00eanio na Mata Atl\u00e2ntica se encontram abaixo do solo, armazenados na forma de mat\u00e9ria org\u00e2nica, e a quantidade desses elementos cresce conforme a altitude do terreno aumenta e a temperatura do solo se reduz. A quantidade de carbono e nitrog\u00eanio abaixo do solo era, respectivamente, o dobro e 10 vezes maior do que acima do solo. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Apesar desses resultados, os pesquisadores constataram que a biomassa de brom\u00e9lias e orqu\u00eddeas, plantas que vivem sobre as \u00e1rvores, pode armazenar quantidades n\u00e3o desprez\u00edveis de carbono e sua exist\u00eancia deve ser levada em conta na hora de calcular o balan\u00e7o desse elemento. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Um trabalho publicado em 2018 no peri\u00f3dico\u00a0<em>PeerJ<\/em>\u00a0destacou outra contribui\u00e7\u00e3o normalmente negligenciada, a dos bambus, que podem fixar anualmente cerca de 60 quilos de nitrog\u00eanio por hectare com o aux\u00edlio de bact\u00e9rias de vida livre presentes em suas folhas.
