Era um integrante da linhagem dos traversodont\u00eddeos, a mais diversa dos cinodontes e j\u00e1 extinta. Da mesma forma, o&nbsp;<em>Menadon besairiei<\/em>&nbsp;apresentava semelhan\u00e7as com o cr\u00e2nio de uma esp\u00e9cie encontrada em Santa Cruz, mas que ainda n\u00e3o havia sido identificada.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Coube a Melo esclarecer a quest\u00e3o no seu mestrado, comparando o cr\u00e2nio descrito por Abdala com materiais adicionais \u2013 mais cr\u00e2nios, peda\u00e7os de mand\u00edbula e alguns fragmentos de ossos do corpo \u2013 da esp\u00e9cie n\u00e3o identificada, coletados posteriormente no mesmo local e preservados por pesquisadores da UFRGS e da Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Zoobot\u00e2nica do Rio Grande do Sul. \u201cPodia ser uma esp\u00e9cie muito pr\u00f3xima, mas ao final da an\u00e1lise n\u00e3o encontramos nenhuma diferen\u00e7a entre ela e o&nbsp;<em>Menadon besairiei<\/em>\u201d, explica Melo, que est\u00e1 na metade de seu doutorado sobre os traversodont\u00eddeos, orientado por Marina. \u201cDeve ser a mesma esp\u00e9cie de Madagascar.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/origem-das-arvores\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"167\" data-attachment-id=\"7622\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/origem-das-arvores\/origem-das-arvores\/\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/biologo.com.br\/bio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Origem-das-arvores.jpg?fit=631%2C351&amp;ssl=1\" data-orig-size=\"631,351\" data-comments-opened=\"0\" data-image-meta=\"{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}\" data-image-title=\"Origem-das-\u00e1rvores\" data-image-description=\"&lt;p&gt;Origem das \u00e1rvores. Dracaena draco L., conhecida pelo nome comum de dragoeiro, \u00e9 uma esp\u00e9cie de plantas com flor da classe Liliopsida, ordem Asparagales, que o sistema APG IV coloca na subfam\u00edlia Nolinoideae (ex-Dracaenaceae) da fam\u00edlia das Asparagaceae. A esp\u00e9cie \u00e9 origin\u00e1ria da regi\u00e3o biogeogr\u00e1fica atl\u00e2ntica da Macaron\u00e9sia, onde \u00e9 nativa dos arquip\u00e9lagos das Can\u00e1rias, Madeira e A\u00e7ores, ocorrendo localmente na costa africana vizinha e em Cabo Verde.[1] Pode atingir centenas de anos de idade, produzindo plantas arborescentes de grandes dimens\u00f5es. Apesar de comum e muito apreciado como planta ornamental nos jardins daqueles arquip\u00e9lagos, o dragoeiro encontra-se vulner\u00e1vel no estado selvagem devido \u00e0 destrui\u00e7\u00e3o do seu habitat.
